Hitchcock - Rear Window

"A wheelchair bound photographer spies on his neighbours from his apartment window and becomes convinced one of them has committed murder."(IMDb)

From the beginning of the title sequence of the film it is very clear to see the genre of it. It is to do with the music that is chosen for it and the camera angles and movement. The setting of this opening sequence is also a big part of how I know the film will be a thriller. At the end of the title sequence, a close up of the man is shown who is sweating, this shows that the man is in distress, but the camera angle doesn't show his whole body. This leaves the viewer to their own judgementThe location is the back of tall buildings that have very large windows and a range of householders, from unconscious men on there balconies to women washing with there windows open. The titles are large, this is commonly used in thriller movies.

Notes taken in class:
  • old title look
  • camera movement
  • cats
  • music (jazz)
  • large old school titles
